New Island is a beautiful island on the North West of the Falkland Isles. The wildlife on the Falkland Isles was amazing. We had breakfast with the Islanders before starting our trek around the island. The Rockhopper penguins seemed unfazed by our visit! (The expeds were always fully booked. The crew took it in turns to go to visit places which the Islanders invited us to while the ship remained on patrol. Radio contact was always maintained in case a change of Operational Commitments necessitated a quick evacuation.)
